Amazon Deploys Versare Room Kit to Streamline Storage and Temporary Offices

As the world’s largest online retailer, Amazon offers an unparalleled selection of products — from hardware to herbal supplements, luggage to dog leashes. But when leaders at Amazon’s fulfillment center in Lakeville, Minn., were searching for an enclosed, lockable, flexible structure for storage and temporary office spaces, their browsing led them to Versare and our EverPanel® Room Kit.

MSP6 is a 750,000-square-foot warehouse where Amazon receives, stores, picks, packs, and ships products weighing 50 pounds or more or in oddly shaped packages. It’s filled with exercise machines, weights, kayaks, large TVs, bedroom furniture, mattresses, and other bulky items. MSP6 had a wish list for this storage-meets-office-space temporary structure: enclosed, lockable, added pony wall for individual privacy, and a good price point. An EverPanel Room Kit fit the bill.

“We probably got two or three quotes from different companies that were going to put in a drywall installation, and they were triple, quadruple the price,” said Dan delaCruz, Senior Operations Manager at MSP6. He also noted that the other companies wanted to go into the concrete floors and use metal studs and would necessitate multiple contractors.

“Because the installation was straightforward, we didn’t need to schedule a contract or subcontractors to come in here. The ability for it to be installed in an hour-and-a-half versus three weeks was critical,” delaCruz said, as he and three others came together to swiftly set up the room kit. “As we expand, we may use that for something else. We can move that structure to where it becomes a better fit — it’s super simple to reconstruct it if we wanted to down the road.”

EverPanel Room Kits use durable, lightweight, interlocking panels to create self-supporting structures — no need to connect them to a permanent wall (though it can be done if needed). Its swing door option arrived already installed inside of an EverPanel — all that was needed was to connect with adjoining panels. Amazon’s panels were faced with excellent noise-dampening SoundSorb™ material, perfect in an expansive warehouse setting as a little haven for privacy for conference calls.

“We gave Versare what we were requesting, fine-tuned the details, and the design team came up with the design. There were multiple versions we looked at,” delaCruz said. “Any changes we wanted were supported by Versare. Any questions I had were answered immediately.”

As the first company to sell flexible space solutions online, Versare was pleased to help another online enterprise craft their space as they needed it. And whether it’s a 750,000-square-foot warehouse, school, place of worship, office, or other area, we’re here to help maximum the spaces you use every day.
